I-Portunus Houses: new funding action for hosts of artists

This new funding opportunity will allow hosts of artists, who may not have the means to attract international talent, to be part of the mobility scheme.

For the first time, i-Portunus, the mobility scheme for artists and professionals of the Creative Europe programme is offering the opportunity for hosts or hosting organisations to apply with their selection of artists to bring in to work with them.

I-Portunus Houses

In this new funding action, called i-Portunus Houses, the funding will go to the individual artists and cultural professionals through a host or hosting organisation.

This new action will allow hosts, who may not have the means to attract international talent, to be part of the mobility scheme.

In view of COVID-19 challenges, blended mobility (first virtual collaboration followed by physical travel to host) is also on offer.

Apply for funding

The first call for proposals is open and the deadline for applications is 30 June.
Learn more about the call and apply on the i-Portunus website.

For further questions about i-Portunus Houses, send an email to the organisers at iportunus [at] mitost.org.

Background

i-Portunus is the new mobility scheme for artists and cultural professionals, supported by the EU’s Creative Europe programme.
It started as a pilot project in 2019 appealing primarily to younger and emerging artists to go abroad to collaborate, co-produce or co-create with their peers or for professional development purposes.

In 2019, 337 individuals were supported and so far another 304 individuals have been selected in 2021 to receive a small grant of maximum €3,000 to go abroad strengthening their international collaborations.

I-Portunus to become integral part of Creative Europe

After these Calls, i-Portunus will become an integral part of the Creative Europe programme aiming to support, connect, stimulate and fund mobility for artists, creators and cultural professionals.
