Distribution support

What is it for?

Creative Europe offers opportunities for European organisations to increase the distribution of European films, as well as encouraging the development of links between the production and distribution sectors.

What does it support?

Opportunities exist in three main areas;

  • Selective support, for groups of distributors to promote works of fiction
  • Automatic support, involving the generation of a potential fund and its reinvestment in co-production, acquisition of distribution rights, and the promotion of non-national European films
  • Support to sales agents, involving the generation of a potential fund and its reinvestment in sales agents, based on their performance, for further reinvestment in new non-national European films

Who can take part?

Selective and automatic support opportunities are open to European cinema/theatrical distributors.

Support to sales agents opportunities are open to companies specialising in the marketing or licensing of films.

In both instances organisations must be owned, directly or through majority shares, by nationals of Member States of the EU or another country participating in the MEDIA sub-programme, and must be registered in one of the countries.

Individuals cannot apply for funding.

More detailed information on participation is available in the guidelines for specific calls for proposals, as well as from the website of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), and the Creative Europe Desks.

How to apply?

More detailed information on the application process is available on the EACEA website, which contains detailed information on apply for:
