Kaunas of 1919-1940, Lithuania

During the interwar period, the city of Kaunas was the "temporary capital" of Lithuania and developed into a modern, vibrant and dynamic cultural centre of the country.

Many Lithuanians, who studied in other European countries, brought back knowledge and ideas to Kaunas, where a fruitful mix of modern tendencies and old traditions prompted the country's prosperous development in the city's architecture of the period.
