The overall objective of the present study is to analyse trends generating growth and fostering employment in the cultural and creative SMEs, with a particular focus on young people.

The specific objectives of the study are to examine to what extent SMEs active in the cultural and creative field can contribute to generate growth and to foster employment, in particular among young people working in the cultural and creative sectors. To this end, employment trends, market structure and dynamics, volume of jobs and the types of contracts held in particular by young people working in the cultural and creative sectors, as well as on the share of young entrepreneurs will be examined in detail in order to inform policy-making and to better target measures in support of innovation and assisting the culture and creative sector in making the transition to the digital economy. Required tasks include a literature review; analysis of employment structures in the Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS); case studies, and an overview of relevance of EU support programmes.
