Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, rogue traders exploit consumers' fears to unduly maximise profits. They falsely advertise products online, such as protective masks or detergents, claiming that they can prevent or cure an infection with the new coronavirus, sometimes at extremely high prices. Do not fall in such traps.
The European Commission and the network of national consumer protection authorities are writing up a guidance to help identify and eradicate false claims quickly. The guidance will be available via this platform in the coming days.
We encourage you to report suspect offers related to the coronavirus to the online marketplace where you saw them.
