First EIT Entrepreneurship Awards (21 February)

The first European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Entrepreneurship Awards will take place at the Royal Academy of Science in Brussels on Tuesday, 21 February.

The winners will be chosen from among nine start-up companies created as part of the EIT's knowledge and innovation communities (KICs). The finalists have been selected from the three existing KICs, which cover ICT, sustainable energy and climate change.

The awards will be presented by Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth. Pat Cox, President, European Movement, will act as 'master of ceremonies'. Benoît Cerexhe, Minister, Brussels Region, and Alexander von Gabain, Chair of the EIT Governing Board, are among the speakers at the event (programme and timings).

The EIT Entrepreneurship Awards are organised in collaboration with the Science|Business Innovation Board, which will also host the Academic Enterprise Awards (ACES) as part of the event. These awards recognise enterprise in universities and research institutes.

Registration: Journalists are welcome to attend the European Entrepreneurship conference and/or awards ceremony and press corner with Commissioner Vassiliou, Minister Cerexhe and Mr von Gabain. To register, email events@sciencebusiness.net
