Villa Empain celebrates EU Prize for Cultural Heritage/ Europa Nostra award

BRUSSELS, 30 September 2011. Androulla Vassiliou, will take part in a ceremony at the Villa Empain in Brussels on 3 October (11:00) to celebrate its recent prize at the 2011 EU Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards.

A plaque commemorating the award will be placed on the building. The prize was awarded to the Boghossian Foundation for their restoration of the 1935 house, which is one of the finest examples of art-deco architecture in Europe. As well as being completely restored, the building hosts a centre for art and dialogue between the cultures of East and West. Charles Picqué, Minister-President of the region of Brussels, will also attend the ceremony. The EU Prizes for Cultural Heritage were announced in Amsterdam on 10 June (See IP/11/695).
