More innovation needed in Europe
More innovation needed in Europe
The European Commission's "Innovation Union", tabled in October 2010, set out a strategic approach to innovation, driven by the highest political level. The Innovation Union will focus Europe's efforts – and co-operation with third countries - on challenges like climate change, energy and food security, health and an ageing population.
Europe needs to innovate: Until 2008 most EU Member States were steadily improving their innovation performance. The economic crisis may, however, be hampering this progress, according to the 2009 European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS).
