Dementia is so much more than forgetfulness
We all forget things, such as where we placed our keys or whether we locked the door in the morning. Though this may get worse with age, it is not a sign of dementia.
Dementia is different. It is a debilitating condition encompassing disorders such as serious and recurrent memory lapses, difficulties to find one's words when speaking, or not thinking clearly. One of the diseases most heard of in relation to dementia is Alzheimer's.

An update of EU control measures to combat the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) was endorsed by Member State experts on 12 September 2014. These regionalised restrictions, affecting, to differing degrees, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Estonia, identify four levels of risks to animal health, redefine the restricted zones and differentiate between these restricted zones in accordance to the level of risk.

EU tightens rules on horse passports
A Commission proposal to revise rules on the identification of horses was endorsed by EU Member States' experts on 11 September 2014. These revised rules provide a more reliable and safer European system for the registration and identification of the horses in the EU. One of the basic aims is to prevent horses excluded from the food chain to, either inadvertently or fraudulently, be slaughtered for human consumption.

Commission adopts proposals on veterinary medicines and medicated feed
On 10 September, the Commission adopted proposals on veterinary medicinal products and medicated feed, to improve the health and wellbeing of animals, to foster innovation and to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the EU.
