More than 350 participants attended EU Health Programme High Level Conference, held on 30 September at the Square, Mont des Arts, in Brussels, Belgium.

The conference was organised by the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency, with the support of the European Commission Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety.

Following an introduction by the Agency director, Ms. V.Wasbauer and a key note speech by Vytenis Andriukaitis, European Commissioner for Health and Food safety, the event presented the results of the current and previous EU Health Programmes, highlighting achievements in fighting cancer; enhancing health security in support of the free movement of persons; innovation in delivering care; and access to better care through the European Reference Networks (ERNs).

Participants, featuring policy-makers, researchers, health professionals, representatives of intergovernmental organisations, public health institutes and civil society organisations had the opportunity to further discuss and analyse in-depth additional actions during specific sessions around each one of the four objectives of the 3rd Health Programme which took place in the afternoon. The same actions were featured in a booklet on "success stories", developed specifically for the conference.

Finally, a roundtable discussion, brought together high-level representatives of 5 different DGs - DG EMPL, DG RTD, DC CNECT, the Commission SG and DG REGIO) to present the new approach in the future Multiannual Financial Framework for 2021-2027.
