Since 1 April, European Research Executive Agency (REA) in charge of implementation of promotion policy
On 1 April 2021, the management of calls for proposals for the promotion of EU agricultural products, as well as the management of multi-promotional programmes has been transferred from the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive agency (CHAFEA) to the European Research Executive Agency (REA), in line with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/173 of 12 February 2021(OJ L 50, 15.2.2021, p. 9). The new contracting authority, REA, has taken over all the legal commitments from the former contracting authority, and has been subrogated in its rights and obligations.
Ongoing calls for proposals published on 31 January 2021 will be managed by REA. Potential applicants can reach the helpdesk via the functional mailbox indicated in the calls for proposals, or by writing to email@example.com.
Call for expression of interest for experts for the programming period 2021-2027
A new call for expression of interest for experts is now open. The registration page has been updated with a single opt-in for all services and programmes, including the “Promotion of Agricultural Products (AGRIP) 2021-2027”.
Public consultation on review of the promotion policy
The Commission launched a public consultation, which aims to gather views on different policy options proposed to ensure that the future EU agri-food promotion policy supports the transition to more sustainable food systems and nudges consumers to balanced diets, whilst strengthening the global competitiveness of EU farmers and agri-food businesses. In addition, the consultation will provide an opportunity to obtain feedback on different options to update the policy implementation, making it simpler and more effective for beneficiaries, implementing bodies and national authorities. The consultation is open until 23 June 2021.
The policy review follows an evaluation completed in 2020, which concluded that the policy was instrumental in increasing awareness of the high standards of EU agri-food products and quality schemes both inside the EU, and in key export markets. The evaluation also suggested that going forward, promotion policy could play an important role in supporting the transition towards more sustainable EU food systems.
