Purpose and Scope

There is a need for a lot of information about the ePrescription and Patient Summary cross-border services to citizens, health care professionals and other actors. This information must be complete and up to date from both a Country A and a Country B perspective.

Gathering information about how the cross-border services are handled in your own country is not easy. To do this for all other countries, and then keeping the information updated would be difficult, time consuming, and in principle impossible.

The Information needed for communication purposes about the cross-border services can be divided into different types of information.

 Type of information

Definition

Common European information

  • General basic information, which can be exactly the same in all member states.
  • It can therefore be produced centrally and thereafter used in all member states.

Member state specific information

  • Detailed information about the ePrescription and Patient Summary services both as country A and country B in a specific participating member state.
  • In order for the information to be correct and up to date, the member state itself is best geared to produce and quality assure this information.
  • Thereafter the same information about that member state can be used by all other participating member states.
