About the software component
The CEF Context Broker (CB) implements a cornerstone function in any smart solution: the need to manage context information, enabling to perform updates and bring access to context.
It enables to manage context information in a highly decentralized and large-scale manner. It provides the FIWARE NGSI LD API or FIWARE NGSIv2 API which is a simple yet powerful Restful API enabling to perform updates, queries or subscribe to changes on context information.

Orion is the Open Source reference implementation of the Context Broker managed by the FIWARE Foundation.
The support and maintenance of the reference implementation, as well as any other auxiliary services, are provided by the FIWARE Foundation according to the terms defined in the CEF Context Broker Offering Description.
Users of the software component
Service Providers: may offer their services to integrate systems with a CEF Context Broker or to install and operate a CEF Context Broker instance.
Domain Stakeholders: may use the CEF Context Broker to create a shared information model on top of which can be developed cross-cutting smart applications.
