From farm to fork, sustainable food for a healthy lifestyle
Europe is committed to ensuring high quality, safe and secure food from farm to fork for EU citizens! This is possible thanks to European policies supporting sustainable farming, rural development, fisheries and fish farming, quality food products, food safety and traceability, and animal health and welfare including the fight against antimicrobial resistance. These policies also generate jobs and growth along the food production chain. The agri-food industry represents 44 million jobs and 6% of the EU's GDP.
At the EU Open Day on 4 May 2019, the Directorate-Generals for Agriculture & Rural Development, Health & Food Safety and Maritime Affairs & Fisheries will join forces to show visitors the role of the EU in ensuring secure, safe and quality food for all EU citizens.
Join us at our stand "From farm to fork, sustainable food for a healthy lifestyle" in the Berlaymont and take part in our fun activities: take a picture at our photo booth, stop at our interactive, and touch screen games, taste some nice European quality products, prepare a self-powered smoothie, explore the European Atlas of the Seas, breed your own sustainable fish species, discover modern agricultural methods, but also the importance of antimicrobial resistance and how to fight food waste, the cultural and touristic value of a healthy and productive landscape and sea... and much more!
