The US State Department has published the 2013 Trafficking in Persons Report. This year’s TIP Report focuses on the United States Government’s recommitment and new approaches for victim identification. As a result in 188 countries in the world reported this year, there are 30 countries which have achieved Tier 1, that is, countries that are meeting the minimum standards. According to the report global convictions of human traffickers increased about 20 percent. The report is able to identify 4.746 convictions in the last year, continuing an upward trend from 2012. The number of victims identified is about 46.500.
