Hard data: data collection mechanisms on human trafficking in the Baltic Sea Region

Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS), 2011, 342 pages

"Hard Data: Data Collection Mechanisms on Human Trafficking in the Baltic Sea Region" is a baseline study by the Task Force against Trafficking in Human Beings of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) on current data collection capacity in the 11 CBSS Member States.

To a large extent it was designed as a fact-finding mission in the region that could be used as a springboard for future development of useable tools at operative, policy and research level. The project focused on how countries in the region perform relative to the Guidelines for the Collection of Data on Trafficking in Human Beings by the Austrian Ministry of Interior and the International Organisation for Migration.

The study observes that there is a lack of comparable and comprehensive data resulting in considerable uncertainty with regard to the scope of trafficking in human beings.
