The Anti-Human Trafficking Monitoring Committee
Malta's first Anti-Human Trafficking Monitoring Committee was established by the Prime Minister in 2010. The Committee members are major stakeholders in the sector, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity, the Attorney General, the Commissioner of Police, and the Permanent Secretary of Ministry for Home Affairs and National Security. The Anti-Human Trafficking Monitoring Committee has an overall responsibility to monitor the implementation of commitments envisaged by the National Action Plan. Moreover the Committee shall be responsible to act as the National Rapporteur and coordinate data collection and report to the EU Commission in terms of the Directive 2011/36/EU on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Protecting its Victims. In addition review policy and practice including in relation to the application of this Directive.
