Union Anti-Fraud Programme (UAFP)

Article 325 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union makes fighting fraud and any other illegal activities affecting the financial interests of the Union a common task for both the Union and the Member States.

By bringing together these three previously separated strands, the Union Anti-Fraud Programme (UAFP) is expected to increase synergies, to foster budgetary flexibility and to simplify management. The UAFP is primarily open to applications from EU Member States and from countries which have become associated to it.

The Programme has a budget of around EUR 181 million for the period 2021-2027, divided as follows:

Union Anti-Fraud Programme - AFIS component

The financial support provided by the Anti-Fraud Information System (AFIS) contributes to the correct application of the law on customs and agricultural matters.

Union Anti-Fraud Programme - IMS component

To facilitate the reporting of irregularities, a dedicated electronic system has been developed and put at disposal of EU Member States and beneficiary countries: the Irregularity Management System (IMS).
