The international operation, code-named Postbox II, took place in March 2019 and involved customs experts from 22 Member States and Europol. Focusing on criminals working on both the open and the Dark Web, Postbox II led to 2320 seizures, the opening of 50 case files and identification of 30 suspects in Member States. Read more about the operation

On 4 May 2019 the EU institutions opened their doors to the public. At the OLAF stand visitors had the chance to learn from OLAF investigators how they protect EU money from fraud and corruption.

On 11 - 12 October, OLAF organised an event to promote the Anti-Fraud Information System (AFIS) to Member States Customs Authorities. The event took place in Vienna, with the support of the Austrian Presidency of the EU Council. More about the event

Based on information submitted by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and the French seamless steel pipe manufacturer, Vallourec, Dubai Customs seized four containers containing counterfeit steel pipes in the Jebel Ali port in the United Arab Emirates.

During the night of 21 September, the Romanian border with the Republic of Moldova was the setting of a major Joint Customs Operation aimed at curbing cigarette smuggling.

For the first time, the Romanian, Moldovan and Ukrainian Heads of Customs, participated in the field checks, together with the Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office.

This unprecedented attendance at check-point Albita showed the support of the four partners to the customs officers that work day and night to protect the European Union’s Eastern border against trafficking.

On 31 May 2016 Giovanni Kessler, Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), gave a press conference for the presentation of the OLAF Report for 2015. He was accompanied by his four Directors. Kristalina Georgieva, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Budget and Human Resources, attended the stakeholders' event which followed and made a speech on this occasion.
