School Fruit and Vegetables Scheme

This EU-wide scheme, launched in 2009, provided schoolchildren with fruit and vegetables, aiming thus to encourage good eating habits in young people. Besides providing fruit and vegetables, the scheme required participating Member States to set up strategies, including educational and awareness-raising initiatives. It was implemented until 30 July 2017. A new school fruit, vegetables and milk scheme under a single legal framework applies from 1 August 2017 for greater efficiency, more focused support and an enhanced educational dimension.
