New Zealand is recognised for the purpose of equivalence since 2002 for an unspecified duration. Please consult Annex III of Regulation (EC) 1235/2008 for further information.

Recognition of the European Union by New Zealand

The New Zealand competent authority recognises EU organic production rules and control system as equivalent to the Official Organic Assurance Programme (OOAP). All products sold in New Zealand have to be truthfully labelled in accordance with the Fair Trading Act of 1986.
