The Agreement on the European Economic Area brings together the EU Member States and the EEA EFTA States in a single market. Though the EEA Agreement does not cover the Common Agriculture and Fisheries Policies, organic production is covered by Chapter XII of Annex II of the EEA Agreement that deals with foodstuffs.

The free movement of organic goods is thereby guaranteed between the EU and the EFTA States concerned: Norway and Iceland. No certificate of inspection is required therefor and the agreement also provides for some linguistic adaptations.
