For the first time the European Commission will be present at Elmia 2010, the leading annual agricultural fair in Sweden, to be held in Jönköping, from 20 to 23 October 2010. This important yearly event draws many visitors from Sweden and abroad interested in the Swedish rural economy.
Recognising the importance of this event, the European Commission will be manning a stand to provide visitors with information on its agricultural and rural development policy. Its experts will be available to answer questions from farmers and the public alike. There will also be games and activities for visitors, both adults and children, to test their knowledge of agriculture and the EU in general will enable the visitors to learn about the European Union and win a prize! There will also be a wide range of publications available on current EU agricultural topics.
October 21 will be dedicated to organic farming, while on October 22 the Rural Development Day will offer a full programme of events on award-winning rural projects supported by the EU ranging from promoting renewable energy sources to improving water quality.
