Your Questions on Community Legislation
The objective of this web site is to allow you to submit on line questions related to legislative acts from DG Internal Market and Services. When you submit a new question, your personal data will be collected and further processed in accordance with Regulation (EC) 45/2001, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data.
What information do we collect, and for what purpose ?
We collect the information necessary to identify and contact you : your first and last name, your organisation, your email address and your phone number. This information is only used to provide the necessary follow-up to your question.
The system uses session "cookies" in order to ensure communication between the client and the server. Therefore, your browser must be configured to accept "cookies". However, it does not collect any personal or confidential information of any kind, nor the IP address from your PC.
We keep the emails which have been sent to you in order to be able to deal with any problems.
Who can access your data?
Within the Internal Market and Services Directorate General, only a restricted number of persons managing
questions have access to your personal data.
Futhermore, access is restricted to those managing the legislative area(s) related to your question.
These people are bound by Regulation 45/2001. Our systems administrators also have access to the data for the purpose of keeping the service running.
They are subject to the same legal obligations, and must identify themselves (login/password) for these operations.
How do we safeguard your data ?
After the question form has been submitted, your data is recorded in a secured and protected database hosted by the Data Centre of the European Commission.
How can you verify or modify your data?
You can access and modify your data by contacting the controller for this web site.
How long do we keep your data ?
The legal retention period for information requests from citizens is two years. This means your personal data will be erased two years after the question has been submitted and all related emails sent to you will also be deleted. The question (which will have become anonymous) will be kept in the system.
