Premiere of the Full House Project

Full House is a youth filmmaking and international exchange project funded by the Youth in Action Programme, which has involved 45 young people from Bristol (Great Britain), Hannover(Germany) and Posnan (Poland). The UK premiere will take place on Saturday 21st November 2009 at Cinema De Lux, Cabot Circus.
The project has enabled the young people from across Europe to work alongside professional filmmakers to create a film on the theme of migration. Over the last year, the three groups have met three times, once in each city, to devise and script, film and edit and finally exhibit the final film.

Young people involved in the project

The first workshop took place Bristol in October 2008 and saw the three groups working together to plan and devise the content of the film. The participants worked in international teams and met and interviewed members of Bristol’s migrant communities, learned filmmaking skills and began the process of writing the script.  After the workshop, the script was written by two professional writers, working closely with members of the project script group.

The second workshop took place in Hanover, Easter 2009. Here the group acted and shot the film, supported by a filmmaker from each country. A first edit of the film was also produced during this week.

The international premiere took place on the 26th of October, during the third international workshop in Posnan. During the workshop, the participants produced a documentary film about the production process of the project, planned how the film can be used in schools to explore the issue of migration and exhibited the festival in four local Polish schools.

The completed film, ‘Full House’ tells the story of four young people who come together at a fictional hostel in Hannover, each with a different story to tell. The film is set against a backdrop of the new Europe that allows the free movement of labour across borders. Participants were also presented with a Youthpass certificate from the European Commission that recognized their involvement in the project.
