Chances and challenges for youngsters in Europe

The seminar, ‘Chances and challenges for youngsters in Europe’ was supported within the Youth in Action Programme under the Action 5.1 - Meetings of young people and those responsible for youth policy. One of the main aims of this seminar was to mobilise young citizens to become active in shaping a society which is more prosperous, loyal and intercultural with a desirable future for everybody.
A very diverse group of active young people managed to get across their ideas and opinions to a large number of policy makers and politicians. They spoke to the mayor of The Hague, a prince of the Netherlands etc. In this conference, the awareness of youngsters in their current and future role in Europe was promoted. Young people discussed also public health issues from the perspective of governments and from the perspective of youngsters themselves, civil society, social responsibility, social cohesion and employability.

The participants were empowered by this conference, especially youngsters with fewer opportunities. After the conference, the participants engaged in follow-up activities such as international debates and transfer of gained knowledge to their direct and indirect surroundings.
