The two-day festival was inaugurated by Jan TruszczyĆski, Director-General for Education, Culture at the European Commission. Rozsa Hoffmann, the Hungarian State Secretary for Education, stressed that Hungary would pursue the goals of Youth on the Move under its forthcoming EU presidency and underlined that mobility can substantially improve career prospects for young people.
The Hungarian Youth on the Move ambassador, actress and singer Dorka Gryllus, reminded the audience that in the recent past young Hungarians did not have the possibilities of mobility which they enjoy today. The Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, László Andor, addressed the audience through a pre-recorded video message. He encouraged them to move, to learn languages, to discover the world for their own substantial benefits. The Teatrum building in the Millenaris park was packed with young people visibly enjoying the multiple debates and presentations as well as the rich cultural programme.
