SALTO-YOUTH network celebrates its 10th anniversary

170 stakeholders of the Youth in Action programme and youth policy makers from the European Commission, National Agencies, national authorities, youth organisations, researchers and partners celebrated the 10th anniversary of the SALTO-YOUTH network in Paris on 25-28 May 2010.
The first common SALTO FireWork event focused on two main topics: •    non-formal learning & training; •    employment & entrepreneurship. The role of the SALTO-YOUTH network The SALTO (Support, Advanced Learning and Training Opportunities) network has been considered as a "unique and original tool" gathering expertise and knowledge of the whole Youth in Action programme. Set up ten years ago to support the national agencies in the implementation of the previous edition of the programme, now it presents a real strength and an added value of the current programme. The eight SALTO-YOUTH centres located in eight different programme countries focus on:   •    priority themes of the Youth in Action programme: cultural diversity, participation, social inclusion, information, training and cooperation; •    priority regions in the collaboration with partner countries: South East Europe, Eastern Europe and Caucasus, the Mediterranean. The network aims at professionalising and qualifying the staff involved in the Youth in Action programme implementation, youth workers and youth organisations on the one hand but also at better recognising the non-formal learning on the other hand. Since the Youth in Action programme considerably contributes to the development of the youth policy in Europe, the SALTO-YOUTH centres wish to strengthen the link between the programme and other players active in the youth filed. In this way the SALTO network, issuing many publications each year, will even increase the impact of its expertise and reach out to more people. More information:http://www.salto-youth.net/
