The show’s about to begin!

IVD film festival kicks off on December 4th all over the world.
The countdown is on for the IVD festival ‘Share the Story’, as more than 15,000 people get ready to embark on a journey through the most remote corners of the globe and experience volunteerism from the eyes of those who are changing the world.  Anybody can join the festival at any time of the day and night, entering www.facebook.com/unvolunteers. In the site, there will be a map showing where the festival is at that time, and discussion boards for everybody to share their ideas in several languages. The journey kicks off in the volcanic islands of the Pacific, where ‘Voluntia’ are fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS, and moves on to the massive archipelago of the Philippines to witness how UNV volunteers help mothers give birth safely in rural areas, where basic services are limited. Shifting up North, the festival touches base in Mongolia, Lao PDR, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan, where volunteers not only help communities but are simultaneously changing the notion of what it means to volunteer in this part of the world. Swirling around through Africa, the Andes, the Balkans and Haiti, the festival concludes back in the Pacific, where volunteers are making a difference to strengthen risk-reduction capabilities in a place vulnerable to natural disaster.  Are you ready to join  them?
