The European Union's Strategy for long-term growth and job creation, Europe 2020, is under review. The Commission launched on 5 May 2014 a public consultation on the future of Europe 2020. This consultation will be open until 31 October 2014. All interested parties are invited to take part and make their views on Europe 2020 and its future development heard.
The policy background and overall context of the Europe 2020 review have been set out in the Commission's Communication of 5 March 2014 on 'Taking stock of the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth'.
When the Commission prepares its proposals on the future strategy to inform the debate at the European Council in March 2015, it will draw on the contributions made during the public consultation. This consultation offers an opportunity to take part in this discussion. It is an occasion to share experiences on how Europe 2020 was implemented, and express views and expectations about how it should look like in the future. Stakeholders from many different policy areas and with different backgrounds are expected to feed-in their views.
