The European Commission and the Council of Europe signed a new youth partnership agreement

On 7 April 2014 the Director for "Youth and Sport; Erasmus+" of the European Commission, Mrs Chiara Gariazzo and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, Mrs Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni signed the Framework Partnership Agreement 2014-2016 in the field of youth in Strasbourg.

The agreement renews the partnership, which has started in 1998 and joins forces between the two European institutions to tackle major challenges that young people face in Europe.

During the years 2014-2016 the EU-CoE youth partnership will focus on youth participation and citizenship, social inclusion and youth work. Activities will support the participation of young people in society, the gaining of better knowledge about their situation and the enhancement of quality and recognition of youth work.

The activities of the youth partnership target decision-makers, governmental experts, researchers, practitioners and youth organisations for the benefit of young people in Europe. They also reach out to the EU's neighbouring countries.
