This section offers a couple of documents related to European Voluntary Service and its implementation.
Be aware: some documents date back to the very early days of EVS.


EVS: Rights & Responsibilities

The "Rights & Responsibilities" documents address to the parties involved in European Voluntary Service activities in the framework of the YOUTH programme: the sending organisation, the host organisation, the mentor and the volunteer! The main objective of the documents is to clarify the role they take in jointly achieving a "good" environment for an EVS project.

    YOUTH: General Recommendations for Visa/Residence Permit Applications

    This document offers advice and guidance concerning visa and residence permits if necessary for participating in a YOUTH project. The document contains information according to length and purpose of the stay in a foreign country. Note: This document provides general information, for further details it is advised to visit Volunteer Mobility or to contact the YOUTH National Agencies in charge.

  • EVS: Volunteer Training

    The "Guidelines for EVS Volunteer Training" address to anybody involved in the training of EVS volunteers. EVS Volunteer Training has a key role in the support and guidance provided to volunteers before, during and beyond their service period. Guidelines and minimum quality standards want to make sure that each volunteer can expect adequate training of equally good quality throughout his project.

    EVS: Studies on project practice (1996-2000)

    Since the beginning of the European Voluntary Service in 1996, several studies were made to promote and improve the further development of EVS project practice. Some of the documents are available in this section. Keep in mind that some are up to date anymore. Nonetheless, they give an idea of the development of the European Voluntary Service from the early days until today.
