SOS Volunteer Helpdesk
You have been accepted for a host project and you are now ready to start your European Voluntary Service? Great! But... there are some formalities you will have to go through, in order to ensure that you have all necessary documents ready prior to your departure. "Volunteer Mobility" will help you go through these administrative procedures before leaving your country and upon arrival in your host country. This concerns mainly what you need to do and to have before leaving, what you need to take with you or always carry with you, where to go upon arrival etc. Basic orientation for how to apply for visa and residence permits can be found in a guiding document "General Recommendations for Visa/Residence Permit Applications" (download: English French German ). Bear in mind: regulations vary significantly from country to country. They depend both on the country from which you leave and the country where you would arrive. Regulations can change quite rapidly, too. The YOUTH National Agencies have collected some information for each of the countries participating in the YOUTH programme. Click on the country names to see more details: Leaving from... Arriving in... We advise you to collaborate closely with your sending organisation and host organisation to get the legal background settled well in time before you enter your EVS project. For further questions many YOUTH National Agencies provide detailed information explaining what to be aware of. If you face trouble with embassies or other authorities to obtain visa or residence permit, we might be able to provide support. Contact us by email or call us by phone +32 (0)2 233 02 99. |
