Structured Dialogue

The structured dialogue is an instrument to actively involve young people in policy shaping debates and dialogue in relation to the European agenda. It is a direct follow-up of the White Paper on youth and a logical consequence of the European Youth Pact. It is structured in terms of themes and timing: in 2007 it will focus on social and professional integration of young people, in 2008 on intercultural dialogue and in 2009 on the further perspectives of youth policy at European level. The structured dialogue contributes to the implementation of the Commission’s Plan D for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate and to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. The European Youth Week and the youth events organised by each Council Presidency are major occasions for young people to raise their voice and contribute to the shaping of policies at European level which concern them. Action 5.1 of the Youth in Action Programme supports projects in the framework of the structured dialogue.
