| Remarks | The present Agreement is renewing the Agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the European Community and the Government of the Republic of India, signed in New Delhi 23/11/2001 and entered into force on 14/10/2002.
Article 11 b) of the 2001 Agreement provides that it is concluded for an initial period of 5 years which can be renewed, subject to the mutual agreement of the Parties. At the EC-India S&T Steering Committee both Parties expressed their wish to renew the agreement. It was suggested that, as the material content of the current agreement is identical to the material content of the preceding agreement, it was suggested to apply a simple, one-step procedure (a single procedure and a single act concerning both signature and conclusion). The Agreement is concluded for an initial period of five years. It may be renewed by mutual agreement between the Parties after evaluation during the last year of each successive period. The cooperation under this Agreement may cover all activities of research, technological development and demonstration (RTD). It emphasises on the appropriate protection of intellectual property rights. |
