| Remarks | The scientific and technical cooperation Agreement concluded between the Community and Australia which entered into force on 27/06/1994 aimed to stimulate cooperation in the research and technical development field between the parties in terms of research projects within the Community framework programmes of research and technical development.
Following the entry into force of this Agreement the parties expressed the wish to amend it in order to broaden the field of application. The present Agreement, therefore, aims to extend the cooperation to all domains covered by Article 130 G, point a) of the Treaty ("implementation of research, technological development and demonstration programmes by promoting cooperation with and between undertakings, research centres and universities") only as far as networks between infrastructure operators and related research projects are concerned, point d) of the Treaty ("stimulation of the training and the mobility of researchers in the Community"). The text of the amended Agreement also specifies that as far as the Australian Government is concerned, these activities will cover all scientific and technological activities financed or executed by the Australian Government, the governments of the States and of territories, as well as non-governmental authorities, in particular the sectors of private research and economic activity and all interested research bodies. |
