U-Multirank contains an interactive online platform through which the user can select the most appropriate indicators for him/her and see either a list of educational institutions or compare one university with universities of the same kind. This functionality allows users to generate their own ranking based on personal needs.
The performance indicators cover five broad areas: teaching and learning, regional engagement knowledge transfer, international orientation and research. Currently, U-Multirank covers 850 institutions from 70 countries.
U-Multirank has been developed by an independent consortium between the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) in Germany and the Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) in the Netherlands. It received GBP 1.6 million (Euro 2 million) support from the former EU Lifelong Learning Programme (now Erasmus+).
