All the entries will be marked by European Commission translators and one winning translation selected per country. The prize for the winning translators will be a trip to Brussels to receive their awards in April 2014.
Last year's UK winner, Angus Russell from the City of London School, had this to say about the experience:
"It was really interesting to meet people from around Europe and discuss their own experiences of translation, especially as some of winners had translated rather more exotic combinations of languages than English and German! Not only did I greatly enjoy the ceremony itself, but the opportunity to see translators at work at the European Commission was very insightful. It has certainly got me thinking about a career either in translation or in the European Institutions."
