Talk Europe (http://talkeurope.dialogue-app.com/ , @TalkEurope) gives people in the UK a chance to put their ideas directly to the European Commission. It is hosted by Delib, and moderated by Democratic Society, both established players in online engagement with politics.
The dialogue will run in three phases.
- 16 October - 15 November: what the EU should be doing in the aftermath of the financial crisis
- 16 November - 15 December: your rights as an EU citizen
- 16 December to 15 January: the future direction of the European Union.
The authors of the most popular and most commented on ideas in each phase will be invited to a Citizens' Dialogue in Central London on 10 February 2014. This will be the occasion to discuss their ideas with European Commission Vice-President Viviane Reding and 400 others from all walks of life.
This Dialogue is one of a series that is being held across the European Union to engage people more directly with EU policy-making. The dialogues are part of the European Year of Citizens, and are part of the lead-up to ideas on the future direction of the EU to be published by the European Commission in 2014, for discussion with the European Parliament and national governments. The questions raised on this platform will also be fed into the preparation of those ideas.
