Secondary schools can register online from now until 20 October to take part in this year's European Commission translation competition for sixth-form pupils, Juvenes Translatores, which aims to promote the importance of learning foreign languages and the art of translation. The competition is open to pupils born in 1995 and each school can register up to five pupils.

    Wanted: Young Translators

The contest will be held on 27 November, when pupils from all over the EU will sit the test in their schools, supervised by their teachers, and translate a one-page text from one official EU language into another.

The prize for the UK's best young translator will be a trip to Brussels to attend an awards ceremony for all national winners in March 2013.
