EU competition for Innovative Public Authorities

The European Commission has launched a competition for innovative initiatives by public authorities. Up to nine prizes of about GBP 90 000 (Euro 100 000) each will award projects like networking platforms for SME start-ups, initiatives that provide special assistance for the elderly, eco-friendly public transport, new approaches to vocational training or initiatives that help researchers bring their inventions to the market.

    EU competition for Innovative Public Authorities

    The prize – The European Prize for Innovation in Public Administration – will award initiatives in three categories: initiatives for citizens, initiatives for firms and initiatives for research and education.The initiatives must have been running for between one and four years. The aim is for the prize money to be used to scale up and expand the projects. The competition is open to public authorities in EU member states or in countries associated with the EU research framework programme. The deadline for application is 15 February 2013 and the winners will be announced in spring 2013.
