The exhibition reflects the main pillars of the winning European Capital of Culture project – transformation, dialogue, openness and environment. It presents the main investment projects including the reconstruction and revitalisation of several non-functioning buildings such as Kulturpark (former military barracks), Kunsthalle (an unused swimming-pool) or SPOTs – outdated heat exchangers which have been transformed into a chain of small cultural and community centres bringing culture closer to people living in the suburbs. The former industrial city of Kosice has embraced the opportunities offered by the European Capital of Culture project and pays a lot of attention to reinforcing the international cooperation and mobility of artists. At the same time it focuses on the promotion of creative economy in the region of Eastern Slovakia by connecting arts and culture with science, research and innovation. The exhibition also captures the atmosphere of the main events and festivals established already during the preparatory period such as the Concert 2 in 1, Convergences, Summer in the Park or the White Night, thus giving a taste of the rich cultural programme prepared for the year 2013.
