The local and regional governments across Europe face difficulties in meeting the rising demands for an effective and accessible eGovernment, complying with the Digital Agenda roadmap. Moreover, they become key agents in promoting social and digital inclusion. Therefore, there is a need at the local level across Europe for innovative, inclusive, flexible and affordable solutions to inclusion.
DIEGO is a project co-financed by the European Commission, which aims to provide access to eGovernment services for all citizens in a user-friendly way available via multiple new technology channels. Over the past two and a half years, DIEGO has produced transnational collaboration between eleven partners from six European countries, developing a series of pilot projects operating at local and regional levels with the involvement of citizens and IT developers.
During the conference, the implementation of the Digital Agenda by local and regional authorities will be discussed as well as the use of digital platforms to empower employment and social inclusion policies. The event will demonstrate best practices and new business models in eGovernment initiatives at the European level.
