The web site: brings together contact details for organisations and individuals in the UK and its regions that provide EU information and advice for the general public, the academic community and business. You will also find addresses for EU institutions and agencies that are based in the UK; MEPs, and sectoral bodies with EU interests such as the TUC. The following is a list of information providers supported by the European Commission in the UK with links through to their full contact details.

Europe Direct

Europe Direct centres offer a range of services and information on the European Union. You can drop into these centres, or contact them by phone or e-mail. The services they provide include:

  • publications, brochures and guides on:
    • how the European Union institutions work
    • the Treaties that underpin it
    • the laws which it makes and implements together with your government
    • its main common policies - on farming, fisheries, trade and competition
    • schemes and programmes in other areas such as jobs, research, education, health, the environment and equal opportunities
    • funding opportunities for your business or organisation.
  • freephone access to the EUROPE DIRECT call centre on 00 800 6 7 8 9 10 11
  • on-the-spot answers to questions
  • computers with access to the EU's Europa website
  • in many cases, TV broadcasts of the Europe by Satellite service, which provide daily updates of what's going on in the EU institutions
  • a feedback mechanism, which gives you the chance to let Brussels know about your concerns, queries and comments on any aspect of the EU's work and how it affects you
  • promotional events and documentation tailored for your area on what is happening in the EU.

UK Single Market Centre

The UK Single Market Centre in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, brings together all the practical support available to UK businesses and consumers to help them benefit from the EU single market, including: Solvit, Point of Single Contact (PSC) Internal Market Scoreboard, Internal Market Information (IMI) and Technical Regulations Directive 98/34/EC

 Part of the European Consumer Centres Network;

  • provides information and advice on consumer law in the UK and within the European Union and advice on how those laws can be enforced;
  • provides information, advice and assistance about problems with goods and services that you have bought in certain countries in Europe;
  • helps you to contact the trader to try and put things right.



Enterprise Europe Network

builds on the strengths of the previous Euro Info Centre and Innovation Relay Centre networks, and unites more than 500 organisations in Europe and beyond offering integrated services, in close proximity to its clients. The network partners will supply information on, and help in accessing EU policies, programmes and funding opportunities. They:

  • Assist companies in identifying potential commercial partners, especially in other countries;
  • Encourage SMEs to become more innovative and help them develop new products, to access new markets and to inform them about EU activities and opportunities;
  • Advise small businesses on technical issues such as intellectual property rights, standards and EU legislation;
  • Act as a two-way street between entrepreneurs and EU decision-makers, relaying views in both directions.
