Graham Blythe took office as Head of the Office of the European Commission in Scotland on 1st August 2012.

Mr Blythe joined the European Commission in 1993. Since 2008, he has been working in the Directorate General for Communication on the coordination of the Representations of the European Commission in the 27 Member States.

He was Acting Head of Unit and Deputy Head of Unit and was specifically responsible for working with the Representations of the Commission in Estonia, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia and the United Kingdom. In 2011, he handled the opening of the Commission's Regional Representation in Wroclaw, Poland and most recently has dealt with economic governance and work with the media in collaboration with the Spokesperson's Service of the European Commission. Previously he worked in the Representation of the European Commission in Ireland and in the Directorate General for Research. Prior to joining the Commission, Graham worked at the Universities of Bristol and Bradford. He is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and was a postgraduate in Leeds and at the Universite de Nice.
