Project Short Description

e-Freight

European e-Freight capabilities for co-modal transport

(January 2010 - December 2013)

Simplification and harmonisation of regulatory requirements and accelerated development of 'single windows' is needed to streamline cargo reporting to authorities. The project will introduce information highways for co-modality to support end-to-end transportation including regulations compliance and intelligent monitoring.

2DECIDE

Toolkit for sustainable decision-making for ITS deployment

(October 2009 - September 2011)

The lack on easy and efficient access to knowledge on benefits and costs of ITS is recognised as a key factor for slow investment. A single entry approach for a new ITS toolkit for better decision making is the main objective of the project.

QUANTIS

Quality Assessment and Assurance methodology for Traffic data and Information Service

(July 2008 - June 2010)

Accurate, reliable, high-quality traffic data is a prerequisite for operational traffic management and commercial traffic information services. QUANTIS will develop a methodology to evaluate and optimise data and service levels in terms of quality and costs in order to foster cross border data exchange and service provision.

FREIGHTWISE

Management Framework for Intelligent Intermodal Transport

(November 2006 - 30 April 2010)

The project will support the co-operation of different sectors to develop and demonstrate the service integration into integrated intermodal transport chains. FREIGHTWISE will develop a reference architecture for intermodal transport and the integration of relevant IT systems including legacy systems.

DATEX II

Data Exchange for Traffic Management and Travel Information

(2004-2009)

To support seamless cross border mobility in Europe, the European Commission supports the development of the DATEX standard for information exchange between traffic management centres. DATEX II pushes the door wide open for actors of the traffic and travel information sector.

CESARE IV

Common Electronic Fee Collection System for a Road Tolling European Service

(December 2007 - December 2009)

The CESARE projects started already in 1998. CESARE IV is specifying, implementing and promoting a common interoperable electronic fee collection on European toll roads. The main goal is to define a framework for an interoperable EETS (European Electronic Toll Service) according to the European Directive 2004/52.

VERA 3

Cross border enforcement in Europe

(January 2006 - December 2008)

Building on the results of VERA and VERA2, the project is supporting the implementation of cross-border enforcement across the EU by developing a network to allow Member States to exchange enforcement data. VERA3 is demonstrating eNFORCE in cross-border cooperation between France, The Netherlands, and Spain.

eMOTION

Europe wide multimodal on-trip travel information

(May 2006 - July 2008)

In eMOTION public authorities, transport and telecommunication operators, IT suppliers and transport consultancies specified multi-modal, on-trip traffic information services for road and public transport users. Information is made available via on-trip-devices like PDA/Smart Phones or in-car-systems. The project addressed both organisational and technical issues.

RCI

Road Charging Interoperability Charging Pilot Project

(June 2005 - June 2008)

The RCI project defined and demonstrated a standard architecture for a European ‘one box, one contract, one invoice’ road charging service. Interoperability of road charging services in Europe can be realized on the basis of clear agreements between stakeholders. This includes the role model and the technical architecture.
