The workshop was organised within the context of Action 4.2 of the ITS Action Plan which addresses the "Development and evaluation of cooperative systems in view of the definition of a harmonised approach; assessment of deployment strategies, including investments in intelligent infrastructure" in the 2010-2013 timeframe.
The aim of the workshop was for the EC services to get a comprehensive overview of the past and current activities related to the development and deployment of cooperative systems including the status of past and on-going research, FOTs and pre-deployment activities at European level, the standardisation mandate M/453, international cooperation and dedicated stakeholder initiatives for future deployment roadmaps, with the objectives to:
- build a common understanding on the state of play of cooperative systems and their deployment in Europe.
- build and agree on a common vision and coordinated strategy to foster the introduction of cooperative ITS Systems in Europe.
The workshop was jointly organised by DG INFSO, DG MOVE and DG ENTR.
