Currently, the European Commission is conducting a study regarding the availability of accurate public data for digital maps and their timely updating through cooperation between relevant public bodies and digital map providers. Objective of this workshop is to review the interim results (requirements and possible procedures) with stakeholders and discuss the possible role for European action to ensure fair, simple and transparent access for digital map providers to accurate public road data.
The study team will present the envisioned role for existing spatial data frameworks, the results of the cost-benefit analysis and their preliminary conclusions on minimum requirements, preferred organisational and legal framework, and required next steps for making road data available to digital map providers. The findings will be discussed with experts and the audience through 3 panel sessions.
