Exposure data and Performance Indicators
Beyond the crude numbers of road accident victims, even broken down through various parameters, it is difficult to compare road safety risk levels between the countries. Moreover, road accident data are imperfect indicators of the road safety situation in a country.
This is why it is necessary
- to set up a European common framework for a set of risk exposure data, and,
- to develop and monitor a set of Safety Performance Indicators.
The SafetyNet RTD project addresses these two issues. Within this framework, several reports have been published for both risk exposure data and safety performance indicators.
