SpeedAlert is a one-year project starting in May 2004 and supported by the European Commission Transport and Energy Directorate General. Its main objective is to harmonise the in-vehicle speed alert concept defi nition and to investigate the first priority issues to be addressed at the European level, such as the collection, maintenance and certifi cation of speed limit information A major strength of the SpeedAlert Consortium is the active and complementary participation of key stakeholders from public and private sectors that will combine transport policy and industry perspectives to maximise concrete and efficient exploitation of results for future EU-wide implementation. Public Authorities: ministries of transport, road authorities, police agencies and national transport research centres composing the largest experience within Europe in Intelligent Speed Management from national activities.
- Automotive Industry: in-vehicle equipment suppliers, infrastructure-to-vehicle communication suppliers, digital map makers and service providers.
